Kai Sushi is a restaurant that delivers its vision of Japanese cuisine through unique dishes that stand out in technique and flavor. We value the quality of each of the products, just as it is done in Euskadi and Japan, working with them with respect and minimal intervention.

We want to offer you a space so that you can let yourself be carried away by our preparations, both from the sushi bar and from our kitchen.
Kai in Japanese means ocean and in Basque it’s harbor.
OUR RESTAURANT IS CALLED KAI BECAUSE IT IS A VERY SYMBOLIC WORD FOR OUR PROPOSAL.
In the professional sphere, Kai refers to the connection of the sea with the land. Ocean in Japanese and harbor in Basque. It symbolizes what we want to unite as a culture, which seem distant, but by searching for aspects of each person’s essence we can discover great similarities such as care and appreciation for the product, seasonality, in short, highlighting the complexity of the simple.
It also evokes that journey of our chef, who after “setting sail” from his country (Chile) sailed through Australia, Japan, Euskadi, Andalusia and Catalonia, motivated by the passion that Japanese cuisine generates in him. Finally he decides to stop in Donostia. Where he decides to land after a great trip.
